Perrin Beatty to step down as head of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce

(Ottawa) The current president of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce will leave office at the end of August.

The departure of Perrin Beatty was announced Thursday by the organization. The latter indicated that it was beginning a process of renewing its management before its 100e birthday next year.

Mr. Beatty has been president and CEO for 17 years, making him the longest-serving executive at the helm of the organization, it was noted.

A former Progressive Conservative minister, Mr. Beatty was also head of CBC/Radio-Canada and Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters before joining the chamber of commerce.

Beatty says the next leader will “bring a fresh perspective” to the organization.

The chamber of commerce mentions that a special committee will conduct the search for the next president and CEO through a recruitment firm.
