Perpignan’s season ends on a good note. Winners of Grenoble (33-19), Saturday June 3 at the Stade des Alpes, the Catalans saved their place in the Top 14 for next season. Thirteenth at the end of the regular season, they faced the Isérois, defeated against Oyonnax in the Pro D2 final on May 27 (14-3), to obtain the last jump seat in the elite.

Led at the break (16-11), Perpignan took place in the second half during which he scored four of his five tries. “We shouldn’t have done this game. We left too many points on the way this season, we lacked confidence, reacted to Canal+ Perpignan winger and captain, Mathieu Acebes. Tonight is good, there is joy but we shouldn’t be here. This game is not fun to play. We have the feeling of the work accomplished but it must serve as a lesson.

Patrick Arlettaz’s men are holding on thanks to the play-off for the second consecutive season. Last year, they dominated Mont-de-Marsan (41-16). USAP will therefore evolve in the elite for a third ranking exercise since its accession in 2021.
