In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), a partnership is not going down well: the Pernod Ricard group has decided to sponsor PSG and many are experiencing this as a betrayal.
In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), a partnership between the Ricard group and PSG has just been signed. On the Vieux Port, the news is hard to swallow. In detail, it is a sponsorship agreement until 2028 with the Parisian club. On the OM supporters’ side, it is astonishment, because the little yellow is a tradition in the Phocaean city. In 1932, Marseille’s Paul Ricard marketed his aniseed drink, and 90 years later, despite the merger with the Pernod group, the headquarters of the French subsidiary is still in Marseille.
Associating the image of this drink with PSG is a scandal for many OM supporters. They are calling for a boycott. In one bar, the owner even took a radical decision: to hide all the Ricard logos present in his establishment while waiting to renew his stock with another brand. By telephone, the Pernod Ricard group specifies that the PSG jersey will never be flocked with the brand because of the Evin law.
