When we learn on the news that Ron DeSantis, Governor of Florida and candidate for the Republican Party, is teaming up with an adviser displaying a completely uninhibited misogyny, it is clear that there is a project aimed at deconstructing a good part progressive advances of recent years. A project to which this particular politician subscribes in the form of a declared war against “wokism”. A way finally to counterbalance everything that deviates from the discourse inspired by the eternal conservative and devastating ideological mixture that is redeployed regularly. However, there is a danger in delay when the populist political and religious leaders of this world try to involve part of the population in the field of traditional outlets.
In other words, when tensions rise a notch due to looming social uncertainties, it is important to guard against the reflex of channeling excess anxiety and ambient hatred onto convenient targets. The incitement to dump this overflow on minority groups or realities conducive to guilt, such as sexuality, leaves in the shadows the examination of glaring issues such as the inequalities created by the widening gaps in wealth, corruption , psychological and social distress, interpersonal violence or migratory movements.
