The semi-finals of the French Cross Country Championships were held on Sunday February 20, 2022 in Bressuires, in Deux Sèvres. A large Périgord contingent had made the trip. The results are good and even very promising. We take stock with Benoit Guillet, from the Dordogne Athletics Committee.
3 titles and 5 podiums for Périgord
They were 56 athletes from Périgord and Périgord, this Sunday, in Bressuires, for the semi-finals of the French Cross Country Championships. All categories were represented, for individual races and for team events. 3 young athletes will win their respective races, Manon Agostini in the cadets, but also Pierre Boudy and in the 2nd year cadets, Cyan Galtier Villa. 3 New Aquitaine Champions who will defend their luck and our colors next March for their finals.
18 Périgord athletes will play their finals
There are therefore 18 Périgord and Périgord runners qualified for their respective finals. 18 representatives of the Dordogne who validated their ticket for the final. Moreover, in the medal table of New Aquitaine titles, the Dordogne ranks 2nd best department in the medal ranking. An excellent record for a sparsely populated department. Young people particularly stood out. Manon Agostini and Pierre Bondy are aiming for a top 10 in their respective finals and Cyan Galtier Villa is hoping for a medal and his coaches are hoping for a ranking in the top 5.
