The National Rally regrets the positions taken by the players of the French men’s football team. Several of them called on voters to mobilize “against the extremes” during the legislative elections.

“Maybe they don’t understand the problems of the French”, asked Edwige Diaz, vice-president of the RN, outgoing deputy for Gironde, on Franceinfo on Monday June 17, after Kylian Mbappé’s position on the legislative elections. The captain of the French men’s football team declared, Sunday June 16, that he was “against extremes, ideas that divide”joined by some of his teammates.
“I regret the comments made by the captain of the French team and other members of the French team”reacts Edwige Diaz. “I imagine that when we earn millions of euros per month, we perhaps have difficulty understanding these French people who cannot make ends meet, these French people who give up healthcare, heating , to eat properly”, judges the vice-president of the National Rally. She assures that “the values defended by the National Rally are healthy values”while other athletes, from all disciplines, signed a column on the L’Équipe website on Sunday June 16 calling for a barrier to the far right.
Edwige Diaz wishes “to these players of the France team”, who are entering Euro-2024 football, Monday June 17, “may they bring the most beautiful victory to France”. But she “do not think, very sincerely, that these calls to fight against the National Rally will be heard, because the French people are an enlightened people who know what they are talking about, who know when they vote”.
The RN candidate from Gironde calls “these French people at the polls”. “Give us a majority in the National Assembly. We need your votes, we need you to restore France”adds Edwige Diaz.
Edwige Diaz is RN candidate in the 11th constituency of Gironde. According to France Bleu Gironde, she will be opposed to Véronique Hammerer (Renaissance / Ensemble), Cécilia Fonseca ‘LFI / New Popular Front) and Zina Ahmimou (Lutte Ouvrière)
