“Perhaps the most beautiful moment of my career”

The Fondecave stadium in Céret had probably not seen such a crowd for years. The grandstand and the edges of the field are crowded this Saturday for Guilhem Guirado’s jubilee. The Catalan, former captain of the French rugby team, celebrated his extraordinary career marked in particular by two titles of champion of France and one of Europe.

Many rugby names made the trip

For the occasion many activities were programmed. In the morning, Guilhem Guirado was able to meet young people from the Vallespir rugby schools. But it was in the afternoon that most of the festivities were concentrated with, in particular, rugby matches. Four teams competed against Toulon, Arles, Montpellier and Usap, each time with former or even current great players. The public could also have their picture taken with the shield of Brennus.

The rugby star did not hide his emotion during this day. “It’s huge. It may be the best moment of my career. Because I see people I haven’t seen for 20 years, people with whom I went through exceptional times. is only happiness!” Guilhem Guirado who also recalls it, it was on this lawn of the Fondecave stadium that he played his first match more than 30 years ago.

The benefits of this jubilee day must be donated to five associations of which Guilhem Guirado is the sponsor.
