Cinemas and theaters will be able to reopen on February 7, Prime Minister François Legault confirmed on Tuesday during his press briefing.

“Quebecers are eager to see their artists again,” said the Prime Minister, before specifying the modalities for reopening the cultural sector. The rooms will be able to reopen at 50% of their capacity up to a maximum of 500 people. The vaccine passport – two doses – will be necessary to go see a film or a show.
The relaxations concerning the cultural sector will come into force on February 7. “It gives a little predictability,” said François Legault. He was referring to a request from cultural industries for a more detailed deconfinement plan that would give them time to prepare for the relaunch of their activities.
The Director of Public Health, Dr.r Luc Boileau, agreed that there had been few cases in theaters and cinemas and said that their closure was aimed at limiting contact between citizens.
The Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, for his part, noted the progressive nature of the relaxations announced: small gatherings from January 31, in restaurants for example, and then larger gatherings from February 7.
