After ten days of debate, the Senate voted for the pension reform on the evening of Saturday March 11. But there is still a decisive vote on Wednesday, before the return of the text to the National Assembly.

Applause from the majority concludes a parliamentary marathon. At 11 p.m., Saturday, March 11, the Senate has just adopted the pension reform. “For: 195, against: 112. The Senate passed”, announced Gérard Larcher, the President of the Senate. The vote was taken a day in advance after more than 100 hours of debate and negotiation, in particular with the right, the majority in the Senate.

A decisive vote next Thursday

The boss of the Republicans, Bruno Retailleausends a message to the government: “We are voting for this reform because it is our reform, it is here that it was born. We will vote for it because we have modified it, it is our text that we are going to vote for“. The left denounces a brutal reform. Now it is the turn of the joint committee to decide next Wednesday. Seven senators and deputies must reach an agreement. The text will then have to be voted on Thursday, first in the Senate then to the Assembly. If it is positive, the reform will be definitively adopted. But the recourse At 49.3 cannot be excluded.
