Penguins – Canadian | Allen absent, Montembeault in net, Primeau recalled

Jake Allen was absent from his club’s morning practice on Monday and will not face the Pittsburgh Penguins in the evening. However, he has a very good excuse: his wife gave birth to the couple’s third child last night.

To replace him, the Canadian recalled Cayden Primeau from the Laval Rocket. He will act as an assistant to Samuel Montembeault, who performed the exercises for the starting goalkeeper.

To make room for Primeau in the roster, the organization traded defenseman Corey Schueneman to the Rocket.

Otherwise, head coach Martin St-Louis will employ the same players as last Saturday in Washington, but has revamped his lines.

After earning a few first-line appearances against the Capitals, Sean Monahan will continue his first-line audition to the left of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. Evgenii Dadonov will find Christian Dvorak and Brendan Gallagher, on a unit that spent a lot of time together in training camp.

A brand new combination brings Jonathan Drouin together with Kirby Dach and Josh Anderson. Rookie Juraj Slafkovsky, for his part, slips on the fourth line to the left of Jake Evans and Mike Hoffman. Michael Pezzetta and Rem Pitlick were the reserves in training.

In defense, the duos remain the same.
