“No discharge forecast has been established”, but “the patient continues to show an improvement in his clinical condition, particularly with regard to the respiratory infection” for which he was also treated, explained the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo in his latest medical bulletin.

According to his family, this infection is due to contamination with COVID-19 contracted three weeks ago.

Pelé, 82, continues to be treated “in a normal room” – not in an intensive care unit – and his “vital signs are stable”, the hospital said.

The triple world champion was hospitalized on November 29 for a reassessment of his chemotherapy treatment followed after the detection of a colon tumor in September 2021.

Two of his daughters, Kely Nascimento and Flavia Arantes, have been posting on social media to reassure fans after rumors of his deteriorating health.

On Monday, Kely Nascimento, who lives in the United States, posted on her Instagram stories two photos of herself at Albert Einstein Hospital.

On one of them, we can see his hand holding that of his father, with the caption: “I have arrived”.

The “King” of football has published several messages in recent days on social networks, in particular comforting the stars Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo after the eliminations of Brazil, then Portugal, at the World Cup-2022.

He notably asked Neymar, long presented as his successor, to “continue to inspire”, hoping that the Paris SG striker does not give up defending his national team.

Pelé has received many messages of support since his hospitalization, in particular from the French crack Kylian Mbappé, who called to “pray for the King”.
