(Pebble Beach) Jordan Spieth had to have a good performance at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Saturday, and he delivered.

While Ireland’s Seamus Power slipped in the standings, allowing six players to return, Spieth played his best round ever at Pebble Beach.
He gave up a card of 63 (minus-9) to reduce his gap behind the leader from 10 shots on Friday to only one on Saturday. Americans Beau Hossler, Andrew Putnam and Tom Hoge tied for first at 15 under.
Hossler handed over a 65 after just missing an eagle at 18and hole. He had one in the sixth, in addition to five birdies. He was the first to reach minus-15.
Putnam started his day on the back nine. He had a five-game birding streak, but settled for par for the day (68). Hoge also shot 68.
American Patrick Cantlay birdied his first two and last two holes of the day to reach minus-14 overall. He shares fourth place with Spieth and Joel Dahmen (66).
Power had set a new tournament record after 36 holes Friday with a score of 128 and had a five-shot lead. His day on Saturday was more difficult, he who committed six bogeys. With three birdies, he turned in a 74 to slip to seventh place.
The top Canadian in the standings after the second round, British Columbian Adam Svensson also struggled on Saturday. He committed seven birdies and fell to a tie at 41and rank after a round of 77.
The day was more positive for Ontario’s Mackenzie Hughes, who moved up to 21and rank with a round of 67. He is tied at 8 under with 11 other golfers, including his compatriot Nick Taylor (69).
As for the other Canadians, Adam Hadwin (68) and Taylor Pendrith (69) are at 7 under, while David Hearn (70) and Michael Gligic (71) have been eliminated.
