Payroll problems in healthcare: nurses now affected

The problem of payroll systems in healthcare is growing. After the orderlies, it was the nurses’ turn to complain about the delay in making retroactive payments that were due under the new collective agreements.

The problem comes from private providers who were unable to modify their payroll software in time, after the renewal of collective agreements in health and social services.

The Quebec Service Employees Union (SQEES), affiliated with the FTQ, denounced these delays on October 27, reporting that “several establishments” had informed it that payroll services would be unable to meet the deadlines provided for in the new agreement. collective for the payment of certain amounts.

Now, it is the members of the FIQ who are experiencing similar problems. For example, an amount that had to be paid before November 6 still has not been paid.

However, the agreement between the FTQ and the Quebec government for the renewal of collective agreements dates back to the end of May. It had been ratified in June, then we had to agree on the texts and sign everything.

“These delays are unacceptable for our members who see their salary bonus postponed indefinitely, while it is since April 2019 that salaries have not been adjusted,” lamented Lucie Thériault, General Secretary of the SQEES affiliated with the FTQ.

Invited to comment, the Treasury Board directed us to the Ministry of Health. The latter had not yet made known his comments, at the time of this writing.
