The leader of the Parti Québécois (PQ), Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, says no to the partial in Marie-Victorin. In a letter sent to members of his party, the lawyer by training confirms that he will not run in the constituency left vacant.
“I recently made a clear and legitimate request to the CAQ government: hold a by-election in [la] riding as quickly as possible, he wrote to the executive of Marie-Victorin’s PQ office. François Legault refused, preferring to play politics with the date of the by-election. “
The Prime Minister confirmed last week that he wanted to wait until 2022 to trigger a complementary ballot in the riding of the South Shore, which lost its deputy, Catherine Fournier, during her election as mayor of Longueuil.
By the 2022 general election, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon wishes to “continue [sa] grand tour of Quebec ”rather than launching a partial campaign. The PQ has already found “a candidate”, he said, without specifying who.
