The reverend on the run Paul Mukendi would indeed be in the Congo, while he would have given a press conference there on Tuesday, according to several Congolese media reports on the Internet.

The newspaper moreover spoke with a lawyer, who affirmed to have attended the press conference.
The event would have taken place in the morning, in a hotel complex in Gombe, located north of Kinshasa.
On Tuesday, the hotel receptionist confirmed to the Newspaper that a room had indeed been rented in the morning for the purpose of holding a press conference.
According to local media, whose credibility could not be verified, Paul Mukendi was accompanied by his new lawyer, Me Stéphane Kezza. The latter did not respond to our interview requests.

A book about his escape
Alongside his lawyer, the pastor of the Evangelical Speech of Life Center in Quebec once again claimed, according to local media, that he “fled injustice” by escaping Canada.
In a video broadcast by Congolese media, the pastor mentions that he is preparing a book, to tell how he managed to flee the country, when he was sentenced to serve an eight-year prison sentence for sexual assault on a minor.

Mukendi also specifies that he did not need “any document” to escape, even adding that he intends to return to Quebec.

For its part, the Police Department of Quebec City (SPVQ) confirms that the investigators in the file have taken note of “this new information” and that it is currently “in analysis”.
“We will not comment further, so as not to harm the ongoing investigation,” said spokesperson Marie-Pier Rivard.

Since his escape last August, the reverend who proclaims himself “the apostle of Quebec” has taunted the authorities by making several appearances on the Internet, while an arrest warrant is still in force against him.
In addition to his eight-year sentence for sexual assault, he was also fined $ 150,000 last July for filing false tax returns.
