George capped off his 45-point night by hitting a three-pointer from 27 feet away with less than a second left on the clock. A free throw from Tyrese Haliburton, however, put the game out of reach for the visitors.
The latter was excellent for the Pacers, who enjoyed a third straight win. He completed a double-double of 24 points and 10 assists. Center Myles Turner, with 34 points, is the only one to have filled the opposing basket with more ease.
As for him, the Montrealer Bennedict Mathurin did well in 20 minutes of use. He had 15 points and four rebounds, in addition to forcing two turnovers.
The Pacers (20-17) are well settled in the sixth echelon of the NBA Eastern Conference. They will host Canada’s only Silver Tour team, the Toronto Raptors, on Monday.
