Paul Arcand, the departure of a monument

Paul Arcand will take the microphone for the last time on Friday morning, June 14. Time passed too quickly. I had the extraordinary good fortune to be interviewed by him for the first time in early 1991, during the first Gulf War — that’s 33 years ago…

Since then, I have never wanted to miss our meetings to do an interview with him. I always enjoyed my interviews with him, as they were well prepared and straight to the point. Not only is Mr. Arcand an outstanding interviewer, but over these three decades he has allowed me to improve, he has forced me to become a much better commentator on international and American news. I felt enormous pleasure in faithfully and exclusively reserving my early morning rises for him.

I thank him very much for returning the favor and trusting me. He and his extraordinary team (Lise Lapointe in particular) were welcoming and generous. I will miss them. Bravo and thank you for everything, Paul, you will have been the best. I wish you a happy retirement and rest assured that the model you represented will be emulated, I am sure of it, at least I sincerely hope so.
