Paul Arcand pilots “Ginette – Ma vie”: the confidences of Ginette Reno this Sunday on TVA

The 9e season of “La Voix” ended on Sunday and to replace the musical competition next weekend, TVA has scheduled a long interview with one of the greatest voices in Quebec, Ginette Reno.

The trailer for “Ginette – Ma vie” was unveiled on Tuesday.

In this meeting led by Paul Arcand, the 76-year-old singer tells herself like never before. She speaks of her difficult childhood within a “dysfunctional family”, of the men in her life whom she baptizes her “12 apostles”, of her paradoxes which make up the “beauty” of who she is as well as of the great international career she could have had.

She confides that she has sometimes sabotaged herself and recounts a funny episode with the president of Motown Records, who had canceled two meetings with her at the last minute.

The second time, she grabbed the phone to tell him that she could talk to God every day and therefore she could talk to him too!

“You are missing something and you don’t know what it is! He said to me: “come up, I’ll give you 10 minutes”, she said to a surprised Paul Arcand.

It is also a question during the long interview of the many children she would have liked to have, like Maman Dion, she once said to Celine’s mother. Speaking of Céline, we can watch archive footage of their famous duet performance on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City in 2008 during this special broadcast.

In addition to confiding, Ginette Reno pushes the note during a performance captured in the foyer of Place des Arts, a venue she inaugurated in 1963. Among other things, she sings “L’essentiel”, one of his greatest hits, as well as pieces from his most recent album, “C’est tout moi”, launched these days, in parallel with his autobiography “Ginette”.

The broadcast of “Ginette – My life” takes place on Sunday April 16, at 7:30 p.m., just after “Get me out of here!”.
