If there is one who has seen Patrick Roy work hard to win in recent years, it is his former “assistant”, Nicole Bouchard, who was the director of media relations for the Remparts for a long time, before seeing each other officially award the title of assistant general manager of the team last year.
And Mme Bouchard did not hide how “proud” she was of her long-time sidekick on Saturday, shortly after the announcement of Roy’s appointment as head coach of the New York Islanders.
“I’m surprised it hasn’t happened before,” she told Newspaper. There are a lot of coaches who lost their jobs, and I said to myself: “Come on, that doesn’t make any sense”, but it took Lou Lamoriello [le directeur général des Islanders] to succeed in this. It’s going to be a great opportunity for him and I’m very happy for him.”
Well deserved
Nicole Bouchard adds that Roy “fully deserves what is happening to him, with everything we won with the Remparts last year and everything he has done since his return [dans la LHJMQ, après avoir dirigé l’Avalanche du Colorado]”.

“It’s still extraordinary to have put together this team and to have led it like this to win everything,” she added about the three great honors won by the Remparts last year, namely the QMJHL regular season championship, the Gilles-Courteau trophy and the Memorial Cup.
“It’s 100% on him.”
