Patrick Mahomes will be at his post on Sunday

It’s confirmed: Patrick Mahomes will be the Kansas City Chiefs’ starting quarterback in the NFL’s American Conference Finals against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, despite a sprained ankle.

“He is fine. He moves well,” said head coach Andy Reid of his protege, who was injured last Sunday in a 27-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mahomes attended every practice during the prep week for the Chiefs’ fifth straight All-American final.

He had mentioned earlier in the week that he was feeling very well, but that he had to go through several stages before returning to the game.

“We will see as the week goes on and during the game. All I can do is prepare myself in the best possible way,” explained the pivot at a press briefing on Tuesday.

Recall that last season, the Bengals surprised the Chiefs at the same stage of the playoffs, allowing them to reach the Super Bowl final.
