(Tyler) The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was arrested in East Texas on at least his third drunken driving charge, jail records show.
The situation comes as his son, Patrick, prepares to lead the Chiefs’ offense against the 49ers of San Francisco during the Super Bowl next Sunday.
Patrick Mahomes Sr., 54, was arrested Saturday evening in Tyler and his bail was set at US$10,000. The latter was released on Sunday, according to Smith County, Texas, jail records.
Mahomes’ attorney did not immediately respond to a voicemail from The Associated Press seeking comment from him.
His son will likely face questions about his father’s arrest at Super Bowl media night on Monday.
The quarterback’s father was arrested for the same reasons in 2019 and was sentenced to 40 days in jail, according to Smith County jail records.
