Patrick Kane will have to be patient

It’s an open secret that forward Patrick Kane will be a member of the New York Rangers by March 3, the National Hockey League (NHL) trade deadline.

The star player is currently at home, having left the Chicago Blackhawks entourage for a few days.

According to the TSN network, Kane will stay at home for a little while longer, since a trade between the “Hawks” and the “Blueshirts” will not take place until next Wednesday.

This would be due to the salary cap. The longer Rangers wait before getting their hands on Kane, the less impact it will have on their wage bill.

The hockey expert of the specialized site “The Fourth Period” Dave Pagnotta also said that the Rangers and the Blackhawks already had an agreement and that they were only waiting for it to work financially.

Kane scored 16 times and provided 29 assists for 45 points in 54 games. This season, he signs an eight-year deal that has earned him $10.5 million annually.

The 34-year-old winger was drafted by the Blackhawks with the very first pick of the 2007 auction. In 1,161 career NHL games, Kane has amassed 446 goals and 779 assists for 1,225 points.
