Patrick Kane subject to the COVID-19 protocol

(Chicago) Chicago Blackhawks all-star Patrick Kane missed practice on Saturday as he was subject to league protocol regarding COVID-19.

His teammate Ryan Carpenter and defenseman Erik Gustafsson, who played part of last season with the Montreal Canadiens, are absent for the same reason.

This announcement does not necessarily mean that any of them tested positive for the coronavirus. General Manager Stan Bowman mentioned during training camp that his entire team is vaccinated.

The Hawks host the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday night. The Illinois team has had its share of troubles this season, going 0-4-1 so far.

The Hawks have recalled forward Reese Johnson from their American Hockey League school club. Johnson scored and assisted in the Rockford IceHogs 6-3 loss to the Iowa Wild on Friday night.
