Patrick Cantlay escapes victory in the 18th

By committing a triple bogey on the 18th hole of the Shriners Children’s Open, the American Patrick Cantlay gave the victory to the South Korean Tom Kim, Sunday, in Las Vegas.

The two men were tied before tackling the par four of the last pennant. Cantlay thus gave a card of 69 (-2), while Kim played 66 (-5).

The 20-year-old won by three strikes and earned his second career PGA Tour title. He did not commit any bogey during his work week.

Cantlay shares second place in the standings with his compatriot Matthew NeSmith.

The best Canadian result in Vegas was Adam Hadwin. However, he had his worst round of the week by playing 68 (-3). His cumulative score of 267 (-17) allowed him to finish tied with American Maverick McNealy for 10th place.

Maple leaf representatives Taylor Pendrith and Adam Svensson hit the ball 69 (-2) and 73 (+2) times respectively. In order, he shares 44th and 69th with other golfers.

LPGA: a first victory for Jodi Ewart Shadoff

Britain’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff won her first LPGA Tour title by winning the Mediheal Championship in Somis, California.

The winner had her worst performance of the week, a 71 (-1), but her cumulative score of 273 (-15) still allowed her to edge out the Japanese Yuka Saso by one shot.

The lone Canadian in the weekend rounds, Alena Sharp, finished last among golfers who played Saturday and Sunday. She hit the ball 76 (+4) times on her last lap.
