On the morning of Friday August 5, Patrick Balkany left the prison of Fleury-Mérogis, in Essonne. He was released on parole. Sentenced for tax evasion, the former mayor of Levallois-Perret, in the Hauts-de-Seine, appeared to the press thin and weakened.

Thin, barely recognizable, Patrick Balkany, 73, found on the morning of Friday July 5 his property in Giverny (Eure), after six months of detention. He quietly left the prison where he was incarcerated.I’m happy to come and rest, find my wife, find my dogs, find home“, said Patrick Balkany.

The former mayor of Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de-Seine)sentenced for tax evasion, spoke about his conditions of imprisonment in Fleury-Mérogis prison (Essone). It’s hell to be there, because it screams in all directions, it’s very tiring, we can’t sleep because, until 2 am, it screams, it hits“, he clarified. Last February, he was imprisoned for not having respected his judicial control. Justice finally accepted the sentence adjustment requested by his lawyers. Two other cases target the former elected official, in particular for embezzlement of public funds, but the couple Balkany evaded questions in front of reporters.
