Patrice Laffont, former figure of France 2 and presenter of “Pyramide” and “Fort Boyard”, died at the age of 84

Presenter and producer Patrice Laffont died on Wednesday, August 7, at the age of 84, in his home in Oppède (Vaucluse), the town’s mayor announced to France Télévisions and France Bleu. Son of publisher Robert Laffont, he was known for having hosted “Des chiffres et des lettres” on Antenne 2 from 1972 to 1989, but also “Fort Boyard” and “Pyramide” on France 2 in the 1990s and 2000s.

Patrice Laffont was also a theater actor, he went on stage in 2023 in the play “Bas les masques” by Brunot Duhart and Patrick Angonin, directed by Olivier Macé. Very popular, he was known for his frankness. “I’m not afraid of death”he explained in an interview given in 2022 to Tele-Leisure. “What worries me the most is not knowing what will become of my loved ones”, he added.
