Patrice Bergeron scores four goals in Bruins’ win over Red Wings

(Boston) Patrice Bergeron scored his first four goals of the campaign and the Boston Bruins easily defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5-1 on Thursday night.

Mike Reilly added a goal for the Bruins, who have gone undefeated at home this season. Jeremy Swayman only had to stop 14 shots to secure the victory.

Brad Marchand has participated in all Bergeron goals. Charlie McAvoy has meanwhile been complicit in two goals from his captain.

Lucas Raymond put the needle on in the third period, on a two-man power play, to deprive Swayman of a shutout.

Thomas Greiss ended the game with 32 saves for the Red Wings, who suffered a fourth loss in a row.

The Bruins led the Red Wings 12-3 in shots in the opening period and Bergeron opened the scoring halfway through the opening. He completed his seventh career hat trick before the end of the second period.
