Improving the daily shower routine with quality products at affordable prices is the mission of Maria and Charles Desmarais, founders of the Athena Club brand.


The Montreal couple, who live in New York, offer body care products with packaging in pastel colors – pink, blue, yellow – that attract attention. There’s the cleansing cream, moisturizing body lotion, deodorant, shaving foam and the handy razor set that comes with a magnetic wall hook.

The scents are fresh and light, grapefruit, orange blossom, coconut, rose and peony, with natural ingredients like avocado oil, argan oil, apricot and leaf juice aloe. “We developed our products with specialists, doctors and industrial designers, to have the best possible range of body care, a product that is better for you, more beautiful, more ecological, at a very affordable price,” explains Maria Desmarais in telephone interview.

The latter notes that there is a change among young consumers: very informed, they are looking for a product different from those used by their parents. “They make other choices, more personal, more ecological,” she says. The particularity of our products is that they are without parabens or sulfates, without colorings or additives, cruelty-free, they only contain natural products, the cardboard packaging is entirely recyclable just like our soap bottles. » Maria Desmarais specifies that the name Athena means to her the modern woman and Club symbolizes the community she is creating on the web. The Athena Club brand was first launched on the internet, then distributed in the United States in 2023 at Target and, since February 15, the entire range has been on sale in Quebec, at Jean Coutu, Brunet and Walmart.
