Pascal Obispo attacks the biographer who published a book on Jean-Jacques Goldman without his authorization

The biography dedicated to Jean-Jacques Goldman continues to attract attention. Published by Editions Seuil on August 18, soberly titled Goldman and written by Ivan Jablonka, the latter brought the singer accustomed to silences out of the shadows. In a short interview with Le Canard chainé, Jean-Jacques Goldman condemned last month the release of this biography which he had not previously validated: ”I’m sad for all the people who are being duped into buying these books about me. Faced with the controversy, Ivan Jablonka reacted, indicating that the work he had carried out was above all that of a historian.

”First of all, it’s a historian’s investigation. I am a historian and I am interested in this new object that is pop culture, and in one of its great representatives, Jean-Jacques Goldman, who invented French pop rock (…) It is important to remember that Jean-Jacques Goldman has in some way become a being of history’‘ defended the author, who had nevertheless received the Médicis prize, the Le Monde literary prize and the literary prizes a few years ago for his successful novel Laëtitia ou la fin des hommes.

”Two books have been written about me”

A biography which could have gone unnoticed if Jean-Jacques Goldman had not publicly condemned it, but which is now a hit. In an interview with Paris Match, it was Pascal Obispo who was questioned in turn about this controversial biography… and the singer in turn sharply criticized it: ”It’s done without him, what’s the point? It’s a bit of a cynical approach. criticized the former coach of The Voice who is making his comeback on the music scene with a 14th album called Le beau qui pleut.

Pascal Obispo took the opportunity to reveal that he had also been the target of two biographies that he had not validated beforehand: ‘‘Two books were written about me in which I had no part. It’s nice, but it’s not my story”. In 2018, Lomig Guillo published The desire to be loved, a biography of the singer published by Prisma Eds. Another biography of the singer, much older, dated 2005 and called The Lion’s Part, was published by France-Empire and co-written by Annie and Bernard Réval.
