La Première Borne Elisabeth Borne opens a cycle of consultations on “ecological planning” which must conclude with a speech by Emmanuel Macron on September 25.
After several months of delay, Elisabeth Borne brought together the leaders of political parties in Matignon on Monday September 18 to present the government’s “ecological planning”, with which the left has already shown itself disappointed. The Prime Minister mentioned at the start of the meeting, shortly after 10:30 a.m., “challenges” of this planning while Emmanuel Macron has made the climate emergency a priority of his second term.

This closed-door meeting aims to debate solutions for an ecological transition “just” and no “punitive”, explains Matignon. Accelerate on electric cars, renovate housing, slow down on gas boilers… The government has started to detail the first avenues of this vast project. But the main announcements will wait and should be reserved for a speech by Emmanuel Macron, the contours of which are still unclear, scheduled, according to the Elysée, for September 25.
Even before the meeting began, the left expressed its doubts. The executive intends to open a “sequence” of around ten days on the subject: this “political debate” Monday in Matignon, an exchange between Elisabeth Borne and the members of the National Council for Refoundation Tuesday, a “event” around Emmanuel Macron, and the presentation of the 2024 draft budget on September 27 in the Council of Ministers. In July, the government postponed the presentation of this roadmap, hit by riots and then the reshuffle.
