Parthenay is the first town in New Aquitaine to formalize the arrival of a delegation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Infrastructure at their disposal
Far from the American or Chinese delegations with their hundreds of athletes, Cape Verdean athletes could be about fifteen to qualify in different disciplines : swimming, gymnastics, judo, fencing, taekwondo, boxing or even athletics.
“A hotel-restaurant with a Portuguese-speaking manager was chosen to welcome them, explains Jean-Michel Prieur, the mayor of Parthenay. The 149 fitness room will be at their disposal, as will the Dojo or the athletics track.” They will also have several vehicles at their disposal to circulate. However, for swimmers, a partnership has been signed with Niort, Parthenay not having an Olympic basin. The first Cape Verdean athletes are expected in early July 2024, the Paris Olympics will begin on July 26.
