Final green light in the Senate. A device improving the assistance to parents of children suffering from a serious pathology, so that they can stay longer by their side if necessary, was definitively adopted Thursday, November 4 by Parliament. This Bill by deputy Paul Christophe, from the Agir ensemble group, had already been unanimously validated at first reading by the National Assembly in November 2020.
The current system provides for 310 days of parental presence leave (CPP) and daily parental presence allowance (AJPP), within a limit of three years. This right to 310 days of CPP and AJPP can be renewed in the event of relapse or recurrence of the disease, after the three-year period. To respond to certain situations, in particular families whose children have cancer, the proposal opens up the possibility, under certain conditions, of renewing the payment of the allowance for a maximum of 310 days and for three years, without wait until the end of the first three-year period.
This measure should therefore make it possible to open rights to CPP and AJPP over a period of 620 continuous days. This development, expected by associations and families, only concerns 5% of AJPP beneficiaries, said Secretary of State for Children Adrien Taquet, i.e. around 560 households out of the 10,300 identified in February 2020. .
The cost is estimated at five million euros, for a device currently representing 94 million euros. Adrien Taquet announced that the government would table in the Senate next week an amendment to the social security financing bill (PLFSS) to extend the system to civil servants and the military.
