On Thursday February 15, Greece said yes to same-sex marriage and the adoption of children by same-sex couples. “We are really very happy with this result. We have been waiting for it for a very long time and in the end love wins all”, enthuses a young woman.
37th country in the world to legalize marriage for all
This government, which no one expected, kept its promises with this decision. The text was approved by a large majority of deputies present in Parliament after two days of debate. A major societal reform, which the right-wing Prime Minister, Kyriákos Mitsotákis, welcomes. With this vote, Greece becomes the 37th country in the world, the 17th country in the European Union and the first Orthodox Christian country to legalize adoption for same-sex parents.
