The public finance programming law for the period 2023-2027 was definitively adopted on Wednesday, November 15, by Parliament, via the unsurprising rejection of a new motion of censure in the National Assembly in a sparse hemicycle.
The motion obtained 143 votes out of the 289 required to bring down the government. It was tabled by La France Insoumise (LFI) deputies, communists and ecologists, in response to 49.3 used by the Prime Minister to pass this multi-annual financial framework without a vote.
The government in fact triggered a 17th 49.3 in the National Assembly on Monday, during the final reading of the law. A decision taken in the absence of Elisabeth Borne, on an official trip to Ireland. The Minister of Relations with Parliament, Franck Riester, was responsible for reading a message from the Prime Minister committing the government to responsibility.
