The agency in charge of parking announced Thursday that their hourly rate would increase by $0.25 across the city.

The price of parking meters varies by borough and neighborhood. Downtown, Griffintown and Plateau-Mont-Royal, parking will now cost $4 an hour, compared to $3.75 currently. In Verdun and Lachine, the price of parking meters will increase to $2.50 per hour, compared to $2.25 currently.

This is “an increase that is intended to be below the rate of inflation”, indicates the Sustainable Mobility Agency (the former Stationnement de Montréal) in a press release.

“Furthermore, the by-law on rates also provides for a rate increase for parking lots managed by the Agency. This increase will be effective, this time, from 1er April 2022,” the statement continued.

These increases were voted on by elected municipal officials at the end of January.
