Samusocial de Paris allows families with children who are housed in their establishments to go back to school with all the necessary equipment. This year 2022, 2,700 schoolbags (700 more than in 2021) and as many school supply kits, prepared during the month of August, have been distributed.
For Alexandre Faucoeur, who coordinates the project: “Without this operation, many schoolchildren would go back to school without equipment. To offer them the necessary supplies is to bring them closer to equality with their classmates“.
Corporate sponsors and individuals are at the rendezvous
Every summer, the Sponsorship teams of Samusocial de Paris mobilize and organize a large chain of solidarity to support the poorest families.
It all starts in July. A call for donations of school materials has been launched to customers of the Monoprix (avenue d’Italie, 13th) and Cultura Gennevilliers (92) stores. A dozen volunteers supervise the collection.
At the same time, corporate sponsors (Fiducial, Sony, BIC, QBE, Un rien c’est tout, BNP) send additional supplies to Samusocial in Paris. Once the inventory has been completed, all that remains is to order the missing equipment on solidarity platforms.
Huge logistical work
All children do not receive the same kit, because school children do not have the same needs as middle school students. To increase efficiency, for more than two weeks, teams of volunteers from BHV, Benenova, the Solidarity Factory and Friday meet in the warehouse to sort supplies, fill kits and binders according to levels and material requirements.
As you can imagine, it’s a lot of logistical work and sometimes a real headache, because there’s no question of falling behind. Time is counted. Everything must be distributed between August 29 and September 2.
This year again, the bet has been successful for Samusocial, which recalls that “donations are essential to their actions”.
