Paris-Roubaix 2022: discover the course of the men’s and women’s races

Six months after the last edition scheduled for October because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Paris-Roubaix cycling race is back on its usual date. It is on Sunday April 17 that the start will be given in Compiègne in the Oise.

The runners will start at 11 a.m. from the Place du Général de Gaulle. They will have 200 meters less paving compared to last autumn, i.e. 54.8 km in total on a 257.5 km course between Compiègne and the Roubaix velodrome.

A fairly classic route

It’s at Troisvilles that the runners will enter the first cobbled section which will be taken over its total length of 2.2 km. They will go to Solesmes again. The last time was in 2019.

They will take the cobblestone sector from Vertain to Saint-Martin-sur-Ecaillon then the Haussy sector, in other words in the opposite direction compared to the previous edition last October.

The runners will face the famous and formidable gap of Arenberg and its 2,300 meters of cobblestones, and of course Mons-en-Pevele and the Crossroads of the Tree. Discover the course with its 30 cobbled sectors on our interactive map.

Second edition of Paris-Roubaix women

They shone during the first edition of Paris-Roubaix women. For sure, the second edition will be exciting on Saturday, April 16. The runners will start the race in Denain. They will have to travel 116 km to the Roubaix velodrome, including 29.2 kilometers of cobblestones.

For this second edition, 24 women’s teams are involved. The runners will start in the early afternoon from Denain, about fifteen kilometers west of Valenciennes. They will complete three laps of a city circuit before heading to Roubaix.

First sector, that of Hornaing. The women will take a total of 17 cobbled sections, in particular that of Mons-en-Pévèle and the Carrefour de l’Arbre which are among the most difficult. From Hornaing, it is the same course as the men. The Arenberg gap is not yet for this time. But the organizers are not ruling out the idea for a next edition.
