Canada won the gold medal in the men’s 4×100-metre relay at the Paris Olympics on Friday.
The quartet of Jerome Blake, Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney and Andre De Grasse covered the distance in 37.50 seconds, ahead of South Africa and Great Britain.
This is Canada’s first medal on the athletics track at these Olympic Games.
The United States was disqualified after a poor passing of the baton.
The four Canadian men won silver in Tokyo in 2021. The Canadian relay team also won bronze in Rio five years earlier. The Canadian team triumphed in Atlanta in 1996.
