Paris Olympic Games | Quebec boxer Tammara Thibeault gets her ticket

(Santiago) Quebec boxer Tammara Thibeault obtained her ticket to the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 after qualifying for the final of the tournament at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.


The 26-year-old athlete from Shawinigan defeated Mexican Vanessa Ortiz by unanimous decision of the judges in the semi-final on Thursday. She will therefore fight for the gold medal in the under 75 kg category.

Thibeault won the world title in 2022 and reached the quarter-finals of the women’s boxing tournament at the 2021 Tokyo Games.

She is one of five Canadian boxers in the semi-finals at the Pan American Games who are trying to get their ticket to the Paris Olympics in 2024.

The first two boxers in each weight category will get their ticket to the Olympics.
