Paris FC have made a perfect start to their Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament. The Parisians won 9-0 against the Austrian team First Vienna, pfor their semi-finals of the first preliminary round, Wednesday September 4, including a hat-trick from Mathilde Bourdieu and two doubles from Julie Dufour and Kessya Bussy, all French internationals. Sandrine Soubeyrand’s players will face the winner of the duel between Sparta Prague and Linköping in the final of the first preliminary round on Saturday, September 7.
If they win on Saturday, Paris FC will reach the play-offs (first and second leg), during which Paris-Saint-Germain will enter the competition in order to also reach the group stages of the Women’s Champions League, which, unlike its men’s version, has not yet changed format.
The Parisian club is the only French club to play in this qualifying tournament, organized in Linköping, Sweden. Last season, Paris FC achieved the double feat of knocking out, during the qualifying stages, Arsenal, third in the English championship at the end of the 2022-23 season, already in a tournament played in Sweden, then Wolfsburg, then reigning finalist of the last Champions League.
