The Paris City Hall is “willing to resume language” with Paris Saint-Germain on a possible sale of the Parc des Princes, declared Emmanuel Grégoire, first assistant to Anne Hidalgo, Thursday January 4, in the newspaper The Parisian, while relations between the mayor and the club were in decline after the refusal of a first offer. He estimates that an expanded stadium could see the light of day in 2027, while PSG ultimately did not submit an offer to buy the Stade de France.

This non-application for the repurchase of the Dyonisian enclosure “is good news because we will be able to work seriously on the hypothesis of PSG remaining at the Park”, according to Emmanuel Grégoire. The first deputy continues to think that “the Park is the safest solution, financially, technically and sportingly” for the club, which could also be tempted to build a new stadium, on a new site. “We are therefore prepared to resume talks, as quickly as possible, with PSG to find a favorable outcome”affirms Emmanuel Grégoire.

Sale or lease

According to him, “you have to choose between several major implementation options, a sale or a long lease [de très longue durée] the duration of which must be discussed to allow PSG to amortize its investments”. The Parisian club considers the acquisition of the stadium essential to carry out its expansion project to 60,000 seats – compared to around 48,000 seats currently. But also to take its economic model a step further following the example of several major European clubs, owners of their venue. “Playing the 2027-2028 season in the new Parc des Princes” is “still a scenario within reach today”insists Emmanuel Grégoire.
