Paris 2024 | Gabrielle Carle joins the regular training of the soccer team

(Paris) Quebecer Gabrielle Carle will finally be part of Canada’s women’s soccer team at the Paris Olympic Games.

The Canadian Olympic Committee announced Saturday that Sydney Collins suffered a broken left leg on July 18 in a closed-door pre-tournament game.

Collins was playing her first game after recovering from a broken right leg in February 2024.

Carle inherits the spot vacated by Collins’ withdrawal, while Desiree Scott was added to the reserve group in Carle’s place. The Lévis defender thus becomes the 59th athlete from Quebec in the Canadian delegation.

Scott, from Winnipeg, and Carle, from Lévis, both participated in Team Canada’s gold medal victory at the 2021 Tokyo Games.

Carle, who was also a substitute at the 2016 Rio Games, has 46 international appearances to her name.

Scott also won bronze at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games. She has played 187 international matches for Canada.
