Public transport prices in the Ile-de-France region will increase significantly during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. A metro ticket will cost, for example, 4 euros. An increase to which is added an announced surge in housing prices in the capital.
During the Olympic Games (OG) in the summer of 2024 in Paris, transport prices in the Ile-de-France region will skyrocket. You will have to pay 4 euros for a metro ticket, almost double the current price. For the Olympics, a special Paris 2024 pass will be created, and will cost 70 euros per week to travel on the network. Monthly and annual Navigo pass holders will not be affected by this significant price increase.
The City of Paris fears housing abuses
This increase in public transport fares comes on top of an announced surge in housing prices in the capital. Some Ile-de-France hotels are already filling their reservation books, sometimes at exorbitant prices. In Paris, rooms could see their rates double or even triple in eight months. On the platform Airbnb too, some accommodations are already priced at more than 1,000 euros per night. Faced with this explosion in prices, the City of Paris fears abuses and would like to better regulate the emergence of illegal goods in view of the Olympics.
