Two days after the collision between two Rafale planes in Meurthe-et-Moselle, investigations continue to determine the causes, Friday August 16. The parents of fighter pilot Sébastien Mabire, who died in the accident, pay tribute to him in the 20 Heures news.

After the death of Sébastien Mabire, his parents were deeply moved. The 36-year-old had fulfilled his childhood dream of one day piloting a Rafale. “We went to the Paris Air Show, and it was the Rafale that impressed Sébastien the most”his father recalls. In 2013, he received his fighter pilot badge.

With more than 2,000 hours of flight time under his belt and 47 combat missions, he was seasoned, but his mother was aware of the danger. “I always told myself that if something happens, he will have died of his passion. He died in what he loved. There is nothing to regret, somewhere,” his mother testifies. On Wednesday, August 14, the Rafale he was piloting crashed into another aircraft. On Friday, investigations continue to determine the causes of the accident. A judicial inquiry has been opened for the destruction or decommissioning of military aircraft due to negligence of the commander.
