Tears, flowers and the British anthem God Save the Queen. Many Britons gathered across the UK on Thursday, September 8, to pay tribute to Elizabeth II, who died in the afternoon.

Thousands of people, as shown by the images broadcast by television channels around the world, sang the national anthem in front of Buckingham Palace in London (United Kingdom).

Many passers-by also laid flowers in front of Buckingham.
A gesture repeated also in Scotland, in front of Balmoral Residence where the sovereign died in the afternoon.
Many people also gathered outside Windsor Castle, located in the Berkshire, England.
In London, drivers of the capital’s famous black taxis gathered in front of Buckingham Palace to pay tribute to the sovereign, as shown in images posted on social networks.
