Para-swimming | A second gold medal for Canadian Nicholas Bennett

(Paris) Canadian para-swimmer Nicholas Bennett has won a second gold medal at the Paris Paralympic Games.

The 20-year-old from Parksville, British Columbia, won the 200m individual medley and set a Paralympic record in the process, two days after triumphing in the 100m breaststroke in the French capital.

He became the first Canadian to win more than one gold medal in swimming at the Paralympic Games since Quebec’s Benoît Huot won five at the 2004 Games in Athens, Greece.

Bennett has won three medals so far in Paris, including his silver in the 200m freestyle.

He is also the reigning world champion and world record holder in the 200m IM.

Bennett is scheduled to compete in the 100m backstroke on Friday.
