A marriage that turns into drama. A medal-winning Thai para-athlete killed his wife and four others during his wedding ceremony before turning the gun on himself, police said Monday (November 27). Asean Paralympics silver medalist Chaturong Suksuk, 29, also shot dead his wife Kanchana Pachunthuek’s mother and sister at the wedding, which took place in northeast Thailand.
“They argued over private matters and Chaturong walked to his car and grabbed a gun before shooting,” said Matichon Wongbaokul, a local police officer. He added that Chaturong shot his wife and four others before killing himself, adding that one of the victims was a guest who was hit by a stray bullet.
A swimmer, Chaturong won two silver medals at the 2022 Asean Paralympic Games in Indonesia and Cambodia. According to local media, he was tidy in the Thai army and lost his right leg while on border patrol. Gun violence is common in Thailand, where guns can be obtained both legally and illegally.
