Pantone has spoken. The color of the year 2023 will be Viva Magenta, said the American color company.
This hue from the red family “vibrates with dynamism and vigor,” writes Pantone on its website. With its exuberance, Viva Magenta (Pantone code 18-1750) is an invitation to “joyful and optimistic celebrations”.
“It’s a bold color, full of spirit and open to everyone,” explains the company.
Leatrice Eiseman, managing director of the Pantone Color Institute, says the color is “inspired by cochineal red, one of the most valuable dyes in the natural dye family, as well as one of the strongest and most brightest the world has ever known.
Viva Magenta succeeds Very Peri, a periwinkle blue with a red-violet undertone.
