Festi’Malemort are two concert evenings that take place every year in Corrèze, in the small town of Malemort, near Brive. For the opening, this Friday, July 7, 2023, the stage welcomed the group Magic System which was to be followed by the singer Keen’V. But the latter will not have had the opportunity to occur. A terrible squall caused a huge tarpaulin located at the back of the stage to break, causing the fall of two porticoes of lights. Following this accident and its terrible crash, the site was immediately evacuated, leading some 8,000 people to the exit. Fortunately, there were no injuries to report.

It’s around 10 p.m., and while the public at Magic System sang with the group the song “Coco darling” that the storm decided to cut short the party, with a gust of 70 km/hour which literally swept away the backstage. A canvas designed to withstand a speed of 50 km / hour and which unfortunately resulted in its fall imposing luminous gantries, four meters high. The crowd, terrified, was immediately evacuated safe and sound. On their Facebook account, the Magic System wanted to greet their audience and this festival: “And yet, the show had started very well so that the rain came to ruin everything. Thank you Malemort”.

According to our colleagues from The mountainLaurent Darthou, the mayor of Malemort, had hesitated to maintain the concerts as the storm approached at the end of the day. “At 8 p.m., we thought he was going to miss it. But around 10:15 p.m., it happened to us”, he said daily, after inviting the 8,000 spectators to return home. “For us, it’s a year of work that goes up in smoke”,he still lamented. He also assured that this Saturday, July 8, and after passing a security commission, the concerts of Mixed Collective and of patrickSebastian should take place. More fear than harm…
