“Dirar Riad Al-Kafrini, who was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces, arrived dead at Jenin hospital,” the ministry said in a statement.
An Israeli police spokesman told AFP that “undercover agents”, led by the Shin Beth internal security service, entered the Jenin refugee camp where they “arrested two people suspected of terrorist activities”.
When the agents entered the camp, “terrorists opened fire on them, and the fighters responded by firing live ammunition,” the spokesman said.
At least 55 Palestinians have been killed since late March, mostly in the occupied West Bank. Among the victims are suspected militants and civilians, including Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was covering an Israeli operation in Jenin.
During the same period, another 19 people, mostly Israeli civilians inside Israel, were killed, mostly in attacks by Palestinians. Three Arab Israeli attackers were also killed.
